Sollentuna – Gislaved 3 – 2 (25-15, 21-25, 25-16, 19-25, 15-9)

Damlagets headcoach, Dave Egan, kommenterar matchen:

When looking at the results from the matches around the Eliteserien today it is easy to see that every team is capable of winning against anyone. Although we lacked some consistency at times tonight, overall I think we played pretty well. The goal going into every match is of course to get all 3 points, but even so, we still can be pleased with the final result tonight. Gislaved is much improved over last year and will certainly have better season overall.

In the sets we won our service pressure was strong and consistent and lead to many easy points and transition opportunities. Everyone had some good service runs tonight, none better than Sara Mild’s run of 5 straight in the fifth set. In the sets we lost however that service pressure wasn’t there and we gave away too many points with service errors and weaker serves.

Our left side attacking was strong all night with Lovisa Bergh and Sara supplying the bulk of our offense. We’ve been working a lot the past two weeks in practice with speeding up the tempo of our offense, especially to the left side, and at times tonight it looked really sharp. In order to play fast however we need to ensure that the service reception is consistent and throughout the whole match tonight it was very solid with Cissi Skoog and Emma Berglund Lindgren leading the way.

Emily Turner did a good job tonight with some very good decision making and efficient setting. All of our setters have progressed a lot over the preseason and it will be a challenge for me to try to find appropriate playing time for all three deserving girls.

Next week we are away at Hylte who played a tight match tonight against Orebro despite losing 0-3. Winning the serve and reception game will again be important if we want to come away with another win so we will spend lots of time this week in those areas.

Thanks to all the fans that came out to cheer us on in our first home match tonight. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at our next home match November 8th against Svedala!
